June 30 @ 9 AM JST: Strengthening transnational bonds in the era of online connections: Research and Educational Exchange in the U.S., Japan, and the Philippines

June 30 @ 9 AM JST (June 29 @ 8 PM EDT): Join the OIST Foundation, in partnership with Fulbright Japan and Fulbright Philippines for a timely discussion on the future of research and educational exchange in the era of COVID19.

After the dramatic change of events in the past six months, countries around the world are taking initial steps to reopen and adjust to the “new normal.” No sector has a bigger stake in getting the balance right for reopening and maintaining safety than that of higher education institutions (HEI). College campuses around the world are grappling with the question of if and how to open again. Needless to say, these questions hold tremendous economic value and societal significance for millions of people such as domestic and international students, faculty, administrators, and members of local communities.

International education exchange has been a critical component for HEIs for not only financial reasons but also for students to develop an interest and deeper understanding about the world. For 70 years, the Fulbright Program has facilitated educational exchanges with the purpose to strengthen bonds and deepen mutual understanding with the United States and 160 valued country partners around the world including Japan and the Philippines. How can we continue to emphasize and foster the importance of maintaining international education exchange in higher education as we shift to more online formats? Join us for a discussion with our panelists to think together and engage in a discussion about this topic and how it affects higher education in the United States, Japan, and the Philippines.
