Earlier this year, HiSci Lab, the cornerstone outreach program within Girls Be Ambitious, welcomed 18 Grade 10 and 11 students from across Okinawa for a three-day, two-night immersive experience at OIST. Through hands-on science, mentorship from researchers, and exposure to real-world research, students gained both inspiration and confidence at a pivotal moment in their academic journeys.
This year’s cohort reflects the diversity of Okinawa’s student population, including participants from Super Science High Schools, vocational and academic programs, and one student from Ishigaki Island. Made possible through the generous support of the Matsuro and Tsuruko Nakasone Fund, the program ensures equitable access for students from both the main island and remote communities.
