In October 2025, OIST Foundation Executive Director Ginger Choy joined President Karin Markides and Vice President Reid Ching for a series of events and meetings in the San Francisco Bay Area to expand OIST’s global network and partnerships.
The highlight was the OIST Alumni & Friends Event at Stanford University, which brought together alumni, collaborators, and prospective students from across the region—many meeting for the first time—to celebrate OIST’s growing international community.
The team also met with leaders from the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Berkeley SkyDeck, and the Consulate-General of Japan in San Francisco, among others, exploring collaboration in sustainability research, innovation, and philanthropy.
The visit strengthened OIST’s U.S. presence and deepened alumni engagement.
